Why I started Diamond Physiotherapy
If you had told me at the start of my professional career that I was going to own my own clinic, I would have laughed in your face.
It was never on my agenda and was never something I ultimately saw myself doing.
Having moved to Belleville in 2012, I worked in several different clinics with some great practitioners, but there was always something missing.
I had had a wonderful experience in Nova Scotia and had seen what true autonomy as a practitioner really meant.
I couldn't find a work place that I felt was my home here. And I saw things that did not bring me joy in those workplaces. I'd see the focus on the finances, how many times we could see a patient, how we could bill them for all the extra things when they didn't need them.
It was also around this time my interest in public health started. I realized I wanted to do this on my own and create something that I knew would work for my clients. For the people who wanted to see me.
I wanted a clinic that not only had a team of amazing practitioners who really loved what they did, but I also wanted to create a community. A community where the clients feel safe, where they are in charge of their treatment and where we are not dictating the pace.
I wanted to step away from machines and heat and ice packs, and actually spend time with the people coming in and choosing to spend money on their health care. I think they deserve that.
So in short, I started Diamond Physiotherapy because I wanted to do better.
